Counterpart Launches Lawyers Professional Liability Insurance, Its Tenth Specialty Insurance Program and Sixth Launch in the Last Year

Counterpart, the first Agentic Insurance™ platform for management and professional liability, today announced the launch of Lawyers Professional Liability (LPL) insurance. The product is built for firms with up to 100 lawyers, offers primary and excess limits up to $5,000,000, and will be available standalone or as part of a specialty insurance bundle with management liability coverage through wholesale brokers.

LPL is Counterpart’s tenth program and its sixth expansion since July 2025, a pace of over one new program per quarter. The professional liability suite now spans Allied Health, Accountants, Real Estate Agents, Insurance Agents & Brokers, Architects & Engineers, Lawyers, and Miscellaneous Professional Liability. The steady expansion has driven nearly 5x year-over-year premium growth in professional liability. All of it comes on the heels of the $50 million Series C announced earlier this year and a 100% average annual growth rate across all programs since it started writing business in 2020.

The unique speed to market comes from Counterpart’s Agentic Insurance™ platform, which pairs experienced insurance professionals with purpose-built technology to launch new coverage in under three months rather than the year or more a traditional carrier requires. Because the application, rating engine, broker portal, and claims workflow already exist, the company can build programs to meet market demand faster and tailor coverage to its unique exposures.

The LPL product includes Counterpart’s Professional Liability Affirmative AI Coverage. According to Clio’s 2026 Legal Trends Report for Solo and Small Law Firms, 71% of solo practitioners and 75% of small firms now use AI to complete legal work. Counterpart was the first market to introduce Affirmative AI Coverage in 2024 and carries it forward onto each new professional liability product.

“We are thrilled to partner with Counterpart to bring this critical solution to market,” said Raffi Kodikian of Wholesure. “Christina is an exceptional leader whose extensive experience in the LPL space makes her uniquely qualified to drive real value here. This is exactly the kind of innovation our team, our clients, and brokers across the industry need right now to uplevel how we protect law firms against complex professional exposure.”

“Small law firms have been stuck with professional liability coverage that hasn’t kept up with how they actually practice, and they deserve better,” said Christina Casals Melia, Esq., Director of LPL at Counterpart. “At Counterpart the infrastructure and the carrier and broker relationships were already in place, so I could spend my time on the part that matters, getting the coverage right for how law firms work today.”

Counterpart’s new Lawyers Professional Liability form consolidates coverage brokers have historically sourced from separate markets into a single placement. Built on a broad definition of professional services, the form pairs lawyers professional liability with technology products and services liability, media and advertising liability, and sexual abuse and physical misconduct, with sublimits of up to $2,000,000 per claim and $4,000,000 in the aggregate. Firms will also be able to bundle general liability and management liability, including Directors and Officers, Fiduciary, Employment Practices, and Crime, all within the same specialty insurance bundle.
