ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — September 2026 — Northwest Collision Center is installing a high-roof painting and refinishing center at its Tyrone Boulevard facility. It is designed for vehicles that will not fit a standard automotive paint bay, including RVs, buses, and luxury motorcoaches.
Vehicle height is one reason many body shops do not take on this work. A motorcoach or bus stands well above the clearance of a conventional booth, leaving roofs and upper panels to be handled outdoors or in sections. In some cases, those areas require additional work outside a conventional booth. The new center accommodates those vehicles from the outset, so a full-length coach moves through a controlled refinishing process rather than a workaround.
The build follows the company’s move into the luxury motorcoach segment earlier this year, with work centered on Prevost, Volkner Mobil, and Tiffin coaches. The center sits inside the 42,000-square-foot building the shop grew into from 17,000 square feet.
Northwest Collision Center has served St. Petersburg since 1959 and remains the city’s oldest collision repair center. It is I-CAR Gold Class certified, a standing held by roughly 10 percent of collision centers nationwide, factory approved by Mazda and Lexus, and BBB accredited.
