Citizen Energy Ventures Oil Rig
Citizen Energy 2025 Drilling Fund, LP launched in late October 2025 and participated in a drilling program deploying more than $80M in retail, institutional, and management equity. The fund is now substantially complete, with all eight wells producing as of the end of August 2026. The drilling program successfully completed the wells at or below its targeted AFE.
Citizen Energy 2026 Drilling Fund, LP launched earlier this year as a $20 million private placement offering with a greenshoe option up to $30 million in equity. The Fund will participate in the drilling and completion of up to 12 planned wells in the basin’s Cherokee Formation, along with institutional capital, prior investor and management capital. The fund targets long-life oil and natural gas reserves through a continuation of the drilling program strategy that produced the 2025 fund’s results.
“Our team has spent more than a decade developing the Anadarko Basin, drilling and completing more than 300 horizontal wells in the region,” said James Woods, founder and president of Citizen Energy Ventures. “Operational execution is critical to our drilling programs, and the results speak to that discipline, including bringing production online quickly in a complicated macroeconomic environment. We’re pleased to give financial professionals and their accredited investor clients a way to participate directly in our continued development of the Basin.”
Covering nearly all of western Oklahoma, the Anadarko Basin is approximately 50,000 square miles in size and seven miles deep, and it crosses into four states. The 2026 Drilling Fund consists of interests in up to 12 wells in the basin’s Cherokee Formation, which is composed of conventional reservoirs and source rocks with proved reserves.
Prior to the 2026 fund’s launch, the management team raised more than $100 million from institutional and prior investors to supplement the drilling schedule, enhance well diversification, and drive operational cost efficiencies. The fund has also been structured to offer potential tax advantages to investors who elect to participate as general partners.
