Dr. Spancake joins BRC from Jazz Pharmaceuticals, where she has served as Director, Risk Management and Monitoring since 2023. In that role, her team built the framework Jazz uses today to manage risk and quality in its clinical trials, including its central monitoring strategy. Dr. Spancake also oversaw the global clinical monitoring teams associated with both internally run trials and those trials run by CROs. As Director of Clinical Operations, she led the clinical trial managers and specialists running the nabiximols (Sativex®) programs that Jazz acquired from GW Pharmaceuticals in 2021.

“Kim Spancake brings deep clinical operations experience from GW Pharmaceuticals and Jazz Pharmaceuticals, gained from the pivotal studies that supported FDA approvals and other essential studies,” said George Hodgin, Founder and CEO of BRC Therapeutics. “The quality of our programs in CRPS, AIIA and RLS, and the clinical data generated to date, give us a strong foundation. Kim’s leadership will be central as we work toward our next regulatory and clinical milestones, each of which brings us one step closer to potential approval and to our ultimate goal of delivering meaningful new treatment options to patients.”

“We are delighted to welcome Kim to BRC,” said Justyna Kulpa, Ph.D., Head of Research and Development at BRC. “She has the critical experience to orchestrate and oversee clinical trials across multiple sites while holding every study to the highest standards of quality and data integrity. Her leadership will strengthen our clinical execution as our programs grow, and I look forward to working closely with her.”

“I’ve seen what BRC has built: rigorous science, a strong pipeline and a clear regulatory path for medicines in conditions where patients have too few options,” said Kimberly Spancake. “I’m excited to join the team and to help drive the company’s next set of development milestones with the precision and oversight these programs deserve.”

Spancake holds a Ph.D. in Human Genetics from the University of Utah and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. She started her industry career at Incyte and then assumed roles of increasing responsibility in clinical operations and strategy at Cato Research, a regulatory and clinical research organization (now Allucent). Kim also served as a visiting scientist at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. She earned her B.S. in Biology, magna cum laude, from Dickinson College.
